FTA x Jacquie Aiche

Jacquie Aiche says that her jewelry is designed to empower women. The LA-based jewelry designer, whose father is of Egyptian origin, has long been a favorite of Hollywood stars and celebrities, with the likes of January Jones, Kylie Jenner, Usher and Gigi Hadid spotted wearing her bespoke designs.

Her latest venture, launched this week, is a special collaboration with FTA. “The two pieces I have designed are inspired by FTA’s intention of spreading light,” says Aiche. “They are semi-precious gemstone shaker necklaces that add a subtle glow of color to your layers. Green Calcite is known to replenish lost energy. It attracts positive vibrations and keeps chakras clear and balanced, while sunstone is your personal ray of light and love. Just as each sunset is uniquely beautiful, this gem encourages independence and originality. Sunstone gives you the freedom to find your joy and create your dreams.”

Jewelry plays a particularly important role in the Arab world, with cultural and historic significance attached to various precious metals and gemstones. “I often see Middle Eastern clients falling in love with my body jewelry and vibrant gemstones,” says Aiche. “They aren’t afraid of pieces that others might consider bold or daring. It’s a rebellious energy that I definitely relate to.”

Even though she’s lived and worked in LA for years, Aiche says that her Middle Eastern heritage provides a valuable grounding force. “Growing up, my father was deeply rooted in his Egyptian tradition. I found that it really brought me balance and kept me grounded as I learned how to live in the craziness of California. He taught me about respect, honor, discipline and belief in God – all while gathering around the best food with family.” Her Arab roots sometimes also show up in her work. “Having been raised in a multicultural home, I developed a very distinct style that is held true in all of my collections. My Middle Eastern heritage pulls me toward influences of hammered gold, goddess imagery and bright colors. I love to design with those themes in mind. They carry an energy that’s irresistible.”

Of her latest collaboration with FTA, Aiche says that it fits in with her desire to help a new generation of designers. “I’m deeply inspired by the mission of FTA. I believe the support and resources they provide amplify the spirit of innovation and give a new generation of designers that ‘anything is possible’ feeling. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with FTA on our shared love of the arts and creative expression.”

The two new necklaces designed by Jacquie Aiche for FTA are sold exclusively on her website, with 40% of proceeds going to FTA.
