The Five Bags You Should Invest In

The rise of the resale market has changed the way we look at “it” bags.

When investing in handbags, always think about their resale value. A bag that is of “good stock” will retain its value – and if it’s a limited edition, or becomes iconic, it may even go up in value. “Bag trading” in the Gulf region has never been easier thanks to luxury fashion marketplace Farfetch. The site launched its handbag resale program, “Second Life” in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia just last week.

Part of the platform, named “Positively Farfetch”, is all about sustainability. Second Life was piloted in Europe pre-pandemic and launched in America last year. Farfetch’s data shows that 52 percent of their customers had bought or sold a pre-owned luxury item in the past year. Second Life allows clients to trade in their designer handbags for credit towards future purchases on the website and Farfetch has partnered with The Luxury Closet, a Dubai-based resale company that has a strong presence in the region already and that will power the programs.

Dubai-based Edward Sabbagh, Managing Director, EMEA & VP of Growth at Farfetch, tell us which five bags you should be investing in this season – these pieces, he believes, are safe investments, and will have resale value.

1 | PRADA | Cleo Shoulder Bag

When you need an everyday companion that will always make you feel your best, turn to Cleo. Presented in a sleek black hue, she is bound to elevate your look and never leave your arm.
