September 2022 is definitely Messika’s month, between the unveiling of the Qatar Edition jewels, the Venice Film Festival’s red carpet, and the constant generosity of the Parisian Maison when it comes to helping emerging Arab fashion designers.

Paying tribute to a monumental year in the nation’s history, and as the world gears up for the FIFA World Cup 2022, Valérie Messika wanted to introduce empowering limited-edition creations from the Maison’s signature Lucky Move and My Move collections exclusively in Qatar. Inspired by the iconic colors of the Qatari national flag, the special edition shows an elegant new palette of deep burgundy and classic white.

Innovative and modern, with a reserved production of just 122 numbered editions per variation, each Qatar Edition piece, developed in close collaboration with Ali Bin Ali Luxury, echoes a universal appeal, and is further imbued with significance, they’re an ode to 12 years of collaborative partnership between the Maison and the Qatar-based retail group. Etched with its own special engraving on the back reading “Qatar Edition #/122”, every piece evokes the sentiment of pride and purpose that is illustrative of the nation at this moment in time.

Reinvented and re-imagined

The small versions of the Maison’s Lucky Move bracelet and Lucky Move necklace have been reinterpreted and re-imagined. For the very first time, burgundy colored ceramic is impressed into crisp white gold, creating a mesmerizing backdrop for the freely moving diamond nestled within. The strength of the meaningful hue is fused with the elegance of white gold and the radiance of diamonds, creating symbolic talisman medallions that will unlock good luck and fortune in the years that follow.

Exploring the possibilities of the emblematic palette even further, the Qatar Edition My Move bracelet merges Messika’s pioneering house codes with the visionary outlook of the nation. Burgundy leather forms the foundation of the ultra-versatile, luxury  piece, subtly accentuated by white topstitching. Messika’s hallmark ‘move’, the freely moving brilliant-cut diamond, is set within the motif, hinting at the limitless opportunities that lie ahead. Available in classic and pavé motifs (in white, pink and yellow gold) as well as in titanium motifs (in natural, graphite and black), each limited-edition bracelet is an unprecedented iteration of individual style.

In Venice

Two days after the unveiling, Maison Messika rocked the opening night of the 79th Venice Film Festival’s red carpet. Italian actress Greta Ferro wore the Undine High Jewelry earrings, from the Once Upon a Time collection, and Italian influencer Paola Turani dazzled with the Equilibristes earrings, mixed with the Danseurs Aériens two-finger ring, from the Voltige High Jewelry collection.

The following nights, Messika kept on shining bright like a diamond on the red carpet. American actress Camilla Mendes wore the Pear Appeal earrings mixed with the Diamond Magnet 2 finger ring, from the Magnetic Attraction High Jewelry collection. Belgian model Rose Bertram wore the enigmatic Wild Moon High Jewelry earrings and ring, and the Miss Milla double ring.

Italian actresses Matilde Gioli (with the High Jewelry Illusionnistes asymmetrical earrings, from Voltige High Jewelry collection) and Anna Foglietta (with the High Jewelry Kashmir earrings, mixed with the Desert Bloom ring) and Italian influencer Cecilia Rodriguez (with the Diamond Equalizer earrings, Sirenetta 2 finger ring and Bright Falcon bracelet) rocked the red carpet.

Last but not least, and for her first appearance in Venice, Tunisian actress Dorra Zarrouk chose to style her red dress with a ring and earrings from the Exotic Charm high jewelry collection. Zarrouk turned heads again while attending Women’s Stories Gala Night hosted By Vanity Fair and The Red Sea International Film Festival, wearing the Roaring Diamonds necklace from the “Paris est une Fête” high jewelry collection, and the Exotic Charm ring.

A donation to FTA

Last but not least, and after having endowed a beautiful piece last year – the Move Romance Long Necklace in pink gold worth 8,500 Euros – to Fashion Trust Arabia, Maison Messika does it again! Convinced more than ever that the Middle East is bursting with talent and that it is necessary to nurture it, and to give our regional creatives all the support they deserve, the brand will donate a jewelry piece worth 12k Euros to FTA.
