Not every ball calls for a Cinderella princess dress, even duchesses sometimes choose a simpler approach to dressing for their big day, take for example Kate Middleton and Megan Markle! Tying the knot doesn’t mean you have to go all extravagant to make a dramatic appearance, minimal looks can be as magical as a sequined, all sparkly look, we guarantee you will still shine if you keep it simple!

When asked about his opinions on minimalism for wedding dresses, Lebanese designer Jean Louis Sabaji replied, “The trend has shifted to minimal wedding dresses, and I am personally loving it as they highlight the bride and enhance her beauty instead of concealing her under a huge puffy over-charged dress. A minimal bridal dress can still be edgy and different while hugging the women’s body and complimenting her silhouette, as she is the one who shines on her wedding day.”  On the other hand, the designer behind the label Rouba G. thinks, “Minimalism is timeless, it shows the sense of individuality and oneness of a bride. On her big day, a woman’s beauty is embraced through the simplicity of a gown and that reflects her character and confidence through the sophistication of a minimal dress. A minimal bridal look not only reveals the uniqueness of her figure, but also gives a timeless appearance, one which everyone will remember!’

Less is more

Designer Tony Ward said, “The trend is leaning more towards the simple, minimalistic touch with Covid, which I honestly like, especially if it’s a dress or a suit done with the right material, but I really think the bride can be minimalistic or over the top extravagant, the most important thing is that she feels comfortable in her own skin no matter the trends. She should always go with whatever reflects her and that’s exactly why I created two bridal lines, to satisfy different tastes; Tony Ward Bridal with simple straight, lace, mermaid or A-line cuts and Tony Ward La Mariee which consists of ball gowns, sparkles and embroideries.”

If you identify as a fashion minimalist, an edgy blazer-dress with lace cut outs from Sandra Mansour or a simple suit from Rouba.G can make your less is more heart slip a beat. In the same vein, big volume shoulders like looks from Azzi and Osta, Ilyes Ouali, Maison Rabih Kayrouz, Mrs. Keepa and Nafsika Skourti will quietly command attention. All you have to do is add a pair of extraordinary shoes, a frothy bow, a statement red lip or some shiny jewellery and that simple look will immediately be transformed into something far more special. You can also add party-ready accessories and emerge in a whole new look for the after party!
