Following a relatively somber and twice-delayed Oscars ceremony last year due to the pandemic restrictions, all eyes were on Hollywood’s biggest night out. After two years of sweatpants and work-from-home attire, naturally, our appetite for couture is at an all-time-high.
Thankfully the stars brought their fashion A-game and did not disappoint at last night’s 94th Academy Awards red carpet ceremony. Arriving in sequined looks, voluminous frocks, classic gowns and over-the-top statement silhouettes, attendees and nominees did not adhere to any fashion rules at this year’s Oscars 2022 red carpet.
We kept a close eye on all the glitzy and glamorous looks, but an even closer one on the celebrities that were dressed by Arab Designers. Without a doubt, no red carpet is complete without some of the most-celebrated Arab couturiers from the MENA region such as Elie Saab who dressed supermodel Joan Smalls, Zuhair Murad worn by actress Mila Kunis and Georges Hobeika on model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen.
However, we were especially impressed to see a younger generation of emerging Arab designers make an appearance such as our most recent Fashion Trust Arabia Prize 2021 evening-wear winner Benchellal worn by model and philanthropist Petra Němcová and our evening-wear finalist Mônot who dressed Best Supporting Actress winner Ariana DeBose to the Vanity Fair After Party that took place later on in the evening.
We’re always proud to see our community of Arab designers well-represented at international red carpet events and can’t wait to see which designer will be dressing the stars for the Cannes Film Festival taking place in May of this year.
