Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? It’s not all reds and roses when it comes to beauty. Instead, opt for something a little bit different with the help of some of the region’s best beauty experts.

Asma Ghanem Mahama | Makeup Artist

“My perfect Valentine’s Day glam is rosy and romantic— a sharp, pink, well-blended winged shadow with shimmery glitter in the center to brighten up the eyes,” says Algerian-Canadian makeup artist Asma Ghanem Mahama. Working with a highly pigmented rose-colored blush on the cheeks and tip of the nose to create a flushed look, she also loves an ombré lip. “One that’s nude on the outside and candy-coated pink in the center with a gloss on top. It’s flirty, fun, and chic,” she says.

To create her favorite look, Ghanem Mahama combines Hermès Rouge and Hermès Satin Lipstick in the Rose Épicé shade and Too Faced Lip Injection Plumping Gloss. Another of her beloved formulas is Tarte’s Shape Tape Contouring Concealer. “I literally use this every day, it has fantastic coverage and blends into the skin beautifully, and it’s paraben-free, which is a major plus for me,” Ghanem Mahama adds.

Haneen Odeh | Owner of Snob Salon

Snob Salon in Dubai is known for offering some of the best nail art in town. The past few weeks have been filled with hearts and glitter. Nails aside, its Jordanian owner, Haneen Odeh, believes in opting for a sleek look for Valentine’s. “I think nothing is sexier than teaming back hair and a glowing complexion, so I would skip the heavy foundation and false lashes,” she says.

Instead, she advises opting for a dewy look using the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette Volume II paired with an iridescent nude eye shadow and loads of mascara. For the lips she loves, “A glossy berry colored lip balm. You don’t have to worry about touching up or a high maintenance lip color!” Her current favorite formula is Dior Addict Lip Glow in Berry. Her fragrance of choice? Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s iconic Baccarat Rouge 540.

Azra Khamissa | Henna Artist

Dubai-based henna artist Azra Khamissa is known for her minimalistic and modern designs. The founder of her own henna line, she encourages creativity and thinking outside of the box. “Every day is about self love and self care,” she states. Forget about hearts and flowers when it comes to romantic designs and instead go bold with a statement star. “Apply it on the palm of your hand. It’s a classic henna placement that also feels personal to you,” she adds.

Symbolizing power, her henna kit can be used to apply designs on an evening in, as part of some ‘me time’. “I’m also loving my Azra henna cones for creating freckles,” she says, they’re perfect if you’re looking to switch up your beauty look. Play around with the Hindash’s Beautopsy Palette for your face and then finish with a spritz of Diptyque’s Fleur de Peau.
